Shekhinah meets her idol Lauryn Hill

This past weekend, Shekhinah got to meet her idol, Lauryn Hill.

She took to social media to share a photo of her and Lauryn in an embrace in front of a flower wall. The picture was taken after the performance which was held on Saturday at the Ticket Pro Dome in Johannesburg.

“Got to experience something magical last night… I got listen to @ms_laurynhill live ….no wordsmith could even begin to scribe the way I felt or how much this hug means to me,” Shekhinah wrote in the caption of their picture together.

In the build up to the concert, many of Lauryn’s fans were hesitant to purchase tickets as they felt she would not show up because of her reputation to cancel shows. This time however, she did show up.

Shekhinah Poses With All Her Awards

From winning three awards at the 2018 SAMAs to earning a nomination for the MTV EMAs, she has now walked away with the AFRIMA awards. 2018 has clearly been a good year for Shekhinah.

She took home two awards from the AFRIMA’s that of Best Southern African Female, as well as the Best Songwriter.

Shekhinah then took to Instagram to share her excitement. She posed with all her trophies and captioned the post: “Back home with my two new babies ????????.. geeeeeez I was never ready hope there’s no footage of me struggling in my  heels  #bestsouthernafricanfemale#bestsongwritter. Thanks to @elizabethdonnell and @neonontso_ for being with me on this special night really needed them by my side for this one ?????.”

Nasty C And Shekhinah Bag Awards At AFRIMA

The AFRIMA awards were held in Ghana.

Musicians Nasty C and Shekhinah Donnel bagged awards at the show. This was in the Best Male in Southern Africa, Best Female in Southern Africa and Songwriter of the Year, respectively.

Pearl Thusi took to the stage as host of the awards.

Shekhinah was clearly proud of Pearl. She wrote: ”Pearl you where amazing as usual in awe!”

Shekhinah bags major endorsement deal

Award winning musician Shekhinah has earned herself a major endorsement deal with popular brand, Jaguar.

The announcement about the new partnership was made public, just as Shekhinah was selected as a celeb influencer for Jaguar’s #EPACE #DisruptTheNorm #DisruptorSeries campaign.

This year has truly been the best for her, from her big win at the SAMA’s to earning endorsement deals.

Shekhinah celebrates 24th birthday in style

Musician Shekhinah recently celebrated her 24th birthday. The celebration therefore saw friends and family gather for an elegant dinner party.

The party was also themed in her favorite color, rose gold.

Shekhinah thus posted images from the party on social media captioning one of the posts: “24 years of life grateful would be an understatement blessed beyond my wildest imagination all glory be to the most high on this special day (sic).”

Shekhinah and Distruction Boyz nominated for 2018 MTV European Music Awards

There is no doubt we have some of the best in the music industry. Shekhinah and Distruction Boyz have been able to earn themselves nominations to the 2018 MTV European Music Awards.

They are in the Best African Act category.

Both Shekhinah and Distruction Boyz will battle it out with other musicians such as Nigeria’s Davido and Tiwa Savage, DRC’s Fally Ipupa, and Kenya’s Nyashinski.

We wish them all the best as they fly the country’s flag high.

Shekhinah celebrates her 24th Birthday

Shekhinah celebrated her 24th birthday with close family and friends on Wednesday.

She hosted for them for an elegant dinner with Rose Gold as the theme colour.

She took to Instagram to share the events,and revealed how grateful she was to turn 24.

Shekhinah wins big at the SAMAs

Saturday night’s SAMAs saw singer Shekhinah win big.

She scooped awards in the album of the year category for her album Rose Gold, female artist of the year category, and newcomer of the year category.

Other winners

Prince Kaybee won the male artist of the year while Mafikizolo won the best duo award.

Mbongeni Ngema won a lifetime achievement award, as did Steve Kekana and Letona Spokes Hlatshwayo, and they were warmly cheered by the audience.

Joyous Celebration won four awards,bestselling album, bestselling DD, bestselling digital artists and Capasso bestselling digital composer.

The Samro airplay of the year award was taken home by Sun-El for his summer hit Akanamali, which features Samthing Soweto.

Shane Eagle swooped in for the coveted hip-hop album of the year award.

He also mentioned that he was happy about the direction local music was taking.

“I love it right now; so many young people coming out – especially in hip-hop. I like the fact that people are making a living and can feed their family with this. The quality of music is good – I don’t like it all, but there is really good stuff. I appreciate that everyone is doing their utmost to get their message out.”

He delivered a performance that the crowd couldn’t get enough of on the big night.

Other performers included rapper Rouge, who won the best video of the year award.

Shekhinah video Please Mr. hits a Million views

Shekhinah celebretes as her song Please Mr that made the million views club. “God is good. 1 Million views for Please Mr,” the singer wrote, giving thanks to the producers of the track as well as “everyone involved in making the video so successful.”

Shekhinah releases video for Please Mr (Watch)

 

Shekhinah has released the visuals for her track Please Mr and her fans are loving it!

The song, taken from her debut album Rose Gold, has been popular among fans, and according to the comments on her YouTube channel they love the video just as much.

The video follows a man and woman who are led into a house full of dancers, becoming entranced by not only their beautiful surroundings, but also the enticing moves of the individuals around them.

Shekhinah releases sneak peak of Please Mr video

Shekhinah took to Instagram to shaare a  video for the hit single Please Mr and .

The singer shared a preview for the track, taken from her debut album Rose Gold, on social media urging fans to be on the lookout for the full video.

Shekhinah performs out of SA for the first time

Award winning singer Shekhinah is one of the most celebrated artists. Just last week, she was opening the stage for John Legend on his SA tour. Shekhinah is soaring higher as she has taken her music out of South Africa.

Country

She recently performed in Botswana, which becomes her first country out of South Africa.

In a post she made today, she said: “Yesterday we did our first show in Botswana and my first show out of SA. At a vibe. So grateful for the journey.”

Shekhinah set to open John Legend’s performances

Durban born singer Shekhinah, will be the local supporting act for John Legend. This will be during his Darkness and Light tour on the 4th, 5th and 7th of November.

The singer, rarely shares her success with fans as she enjoys living in the moment.

“I’m so excited about the future and everything that’s been happening in my career,” she said.

Early this year, the 23 year old performed alongside Jason Derulo during the Coke Studio: Africa sessions. Her album, Rose Gold, also dropped on Apple Music France.
