Trevor Noah & Charlize Theron to be part of Oscars hosts

Trevor Noah will take to the stage for the 91st Oscars Academy Awards set for the 25th of February. Together with Charlize Theron and other stars, they will introduce the nominees.

In a statement released by the Oscars producers, they said that Trevor and a few other stars will introduce the 8 Best Picture nominees during the ceremony.

“Movies connect us all. They move us, and they create moments and memories that unite us. We are thrilled to assemble this well-known array of film lovers to introduce and share their reflections on the Best Picture-nominated movies.”

The Oscars will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide. It will be broadcast on m-Net Movies Premiere (DStv 104) from 03:00 on Monday 25th February.

Trevor Noah’s show bags four NAACP award nominations

The 50th annual NAACP Image Awards nominations are out. Trevor Noah’s The Daily Show has thus received four nominations.

He took to social media to share his excitement about the nominations.

He wrote: “That excitement after finding out we’ve been nominated for 4 NAACP awards.”

The show has been nominated in the categories: Outstanding Talk Series, Outstanding Variety Show, Outstanding Host in a Talk Show/Series and  Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.

“Thank you so much to everyone who’s been a part of this journey,” Trevor added.

The 50th NAACP Image Awards will take place on 30 March.

Trevor Noah purchases a R278 million LA Mansion

Well while most of us are complaining about how broke they are after the holiday season Trevor Noah ain’t.

The comedian just purchased a R278 million in the suburbs of Belair, Los Angeles.

The spacious home is said to consist of multiple bedrooms, including an “ultra-private VIP suite”, a home theatre, infinity pool and a saltwater aquarium.

During a Between The Scenes insert, an audience member asked Trevor Noah was asked by an audience what his grandmother was doing.

His reply: “All she does is chill at home. Like, she’s got her squad of grannies and they all just come and hang out… it’s like a weird team of superheroes, where they’ve all got their specialities and then hers is that her memory is bulletproof, so all her friends ask her about things they’ve forgotten about in life.”

Trevor’s grandmother simply spends most of her days relaxing.

Trevor Noah postpones Remainder Of 2018 Shows

Trevor Noah has announced that he will not perform stand-up shows for the remaining part of this year. His announcement comes days after leaving The Global Citizen Festival held in South Africa.

He has lost his voice, almost completely.

In order to completely heal therefore, Trevor has decided to postpone the remainder of his shows scheduled for this year.

Trevor Noah cancels stand up shows scheduled for 2018

Trevor Noah has cancelled the remainder of his 2018 shows due to bruised vocal cords.

He took to social media to share the news stating that;

I thought that my vocal cords were healed but according to the doctor, flying 36 hours and hosting a giant concert in South Africa didn’t help me. So now if I want to get better I have to take it seriously so that I can perform at 100% on my new tour next year,” .   “I hate cancelling shows but I also hate the idea of losing my voice forever so I’m postponing all this year’s stand up shows and working hard on rehabbing the voice.”

Trevor Noah Chats With His Gogo On Why She Does Not Watch His Show

Trevor Noah was in the country for the Global Citizen Festival, and thus made a stop at his grandmother’s house.

He went with his camera crew, and interviewed her on what it was like for her as a child and the struggles they faced during Apartheid.

“Flying squads. Each and every street had a flying squad,” she explained, referring to the heavy police presence in the townships back then.

She went on to admit how tearful she would get every time Trevor went outside to play.

“When you were with me here. Oh, Trevor you gave me a tough time. Because you wanted to play in the street and I knew the flying squad was going to take you.”

Comparing him to his mother Patricia Nomalizo, she said: “You would never tell Patricia what to do. She did what she wanted to do and she was good at her work.”

Trevor then asked her if she tunes in to his The Daily Show. She answered with a clear no. She blamed it on constant loadshedding.

Trevor Noah Speaks On His Close Bond With Will Smith

Trevor Noah was on the set of US talk show Good Morning America, where he talked about his latest Netflix special among other topics.

He also talked about his strong bond with actor Will Smith.

“Will Smith has been someone who’s become a friend and a mentor in life. I grew up watching him and loving him,” Trevor told hosts Michael Strahan and Sara Haines. He joked about the fact that he calls Will up every now again just to make sure that it’s really him.

In the interview, Trevor spoke about how Lupita Nyong’o was chosen to play his mother in the upcoming film adaptation of his memoir, Born A Crime. 

“Lupita was on the set of Black Panther. She was reading my book, which I didn’t even know she had, and then she calls me and she goes: ‘Hey Trevor, it’s Lupita’. I said: ‘Hey Lupita, how you doing?’ And then she goes: ‘I want to be your mom’.”

Lupita loved his book so much that she had offered to play his mother in the movie. “I was like: ‘But there is no movie’. She’s like: ‘There is now’,” he went on say.

Trevor Noah set to raise money to support education in SA

Trevor Noah has, through the Trevor Noah Foundation, launched a fund-raising mission to help school children and teachers in South Africa.

The crowd-funding effort is in line with Trevor and the foundation’s wish to improve the state of the education system in Mzansi.

And what’s more, Trevor has vowed to match however much money the campaign is able to raise, up to R2million.

This means that if the campaign is able to raise at least R2million, then a guaranteed R4million investment will be made into education in South Africa by the Trevor Noah Foundation, which launched in 2017.

The foundation is running the campaign through the BackaBuddy website, a popular crowd-funding site.

“Our end goal is to get as many children who do not have access to education, educated. We want to get teachers the support they need, because teachers are underpaid and we want to make sure that the people who educated those children actually have food and ways to sustain themselves,” said Trevor, who is the chairman of the Trevor Noah Foundation.

Trevor Noah forced to postpone shows after illness

Trevor Noah has had to postpone some of his stand-up comedy shows scheduled in the United States. This is due to illness.

He took to social media to post a screen grab of a note. He explained that what he thought was only a mildly sore throat turned out to be bruised vocal chords. Three of his shows thus had to be rescheduled, to allow him recover.

Trevor was to host the shows in Milwaukee, Illinois and Connecticut.

Tickets for the canceled show will be honored on the rescheduled date, and refunds will be made available once the date is announced for anyone unable to attend the makeup show, according to the email.

Trevor Noah postpones due to an Illness

Trevor Noah has  been forced to  postpone some comedy shows in The United States because of illness.

The comedian took to Instagram to share the news that he has been diagnosed with a Mild sore throat which were bruising his Vocal chords.

He promised to reschedule the dates of the shows.

Trevor Noah attends Miami Halloween party

Trevor Noah seemed to be enjoying herself at a Halloween party over the weekend.

He took to social media to share quite a number of photos from the event. He partied with Victoria’s Secret model Winnie Harlow, and Colombian musician J Balvin.

“What a fun Halloween. People’s costumes were so realistic. One guy looked exactly like @jbalvin and his friend looked exactly like @anitta and you’ve gotta give props to the @winnieharlow look alike,” Trevor wrote.

Trevor Noah announces release date of Netflix special

Trevor Noah is set to take on a new hat. Not that of being behind the Daily Show desk, but starring in a new Netflix special.

The show is titled Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia. It will be available on the streaming service globally from 20th November.

This is Trevor’s second special after widely popular Afraid of the Dark.

An Australian artist Giovanni Contardi,  has created a mural of Trevor Noah using nothing but Rubik’s Cubes and it is absolutely amazing.

Trevor shared the work of art on his Instagram account, saying: “Wow! Thanks @jvenb from Australia for sending this. In the time it takes me to solve 1 Rubik’s cube you’ve solved 720 AND painted a mural (sic).”

Trevor Noah apologises for comments made on Aboriginal women

A 2013 video of Trevor Noah making jokes about Aboriginal women has resurfaced. In it, he makes bad comments in terms of the appearance of Aboriginal women.

He has however since apologized on Twitter saying: “After visiting Australia’s Bunjilaka museum and learning about Aboriginal history first hand I vowed never to make a joke like that again. And I haven’t.”

He then added: “I’ll make sure the clip from 2013 is not promoted in any way.”
