Zonke Dikana speaks on grief after losing sister

Three years after the death of her sister Lulu, Zonke Dikana has spoken about the grief she had days and weeks after her death.

Zonke lost two of her sisters in a span of two years. In 2013, her sister Busi was buried. In 2014, Lulu met her death, something that hit the family even harder.

She talked to True Love where she said how she had helped Lulu cope with Busi’s death, but when it came to Lulu’s death, she could not even help herself.

“I wanted to delete all my social media accounts. I just wanted to go inside myself and perish. I wanted to not exist anymore.”

Zonke’s nights were worse especially because of the silence that comes with it.

“I’d want to turn back the clock, because that’s when all the things that are wrong with you- the heartbreak- come out. It was difficult to sleep.”

Move on

Music however helped her deal with her emotions.

“It took a lot for me to be able to get up and work again. I had to finish the album because I had a contract to fulfill with my record label. Music has got me off trouble so many times. Now it is like a soothing balm. I used my music as an outlet to deal with the pain.”

Four years later, she has finally gotten the strength to move on and even perform at home.
