Peruth Chemutai Wins Second Silver Medal at the IAAF World Championship

Uganda has multiple runners, and there is no doubt that some of the teams that have made us really proud are athletes. From the common wealth games to other championships, we have certainly taken it all. Upcoming up in the line of stars, is Ugandan, Peruth Chemutai. She has recently grabbed a second silver medal for the country, at the 2018 U20 IAAF World Championship in Tampere, Finland.

Ruth also won two silver medals at the 5th ongoing youth games in Samoa. At just 18 years of age, this little girl is already taking Ugnada to various places. Chemutai finished with a time of 9:18.87 in the 3000m steeplechase finals at the Ratina Stadium on Friday. She was taken up by Kenya’s Celliphine Chepteek Chespol who finalized with 9:12.78 and while Bahrain’s Winfred Mutile Yavi who was third.

“We are still expecting more honors during the remaining two days of the Championship,” said the President of the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF), Dominic Otuchet.
