Police Spokesperson Asan Kasingye Fired.

What is going on in the Uganda Police Force? Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIGP) Asan Kasingye had not enjoyed his seat for long, before recently being fired.

Following the death of the former spokesperson, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, who was mercilessly gunned down outside his house in March, the Uganda Police IGP, Kale Kaihura, decided to offer the job to Asan Kasingye. He was apparently moved from the area of Interpol and international relations.

“I won’t have the leisure to do that as I will be taking leave of the spokesperson function to concentrate on commissariat work”, he wrote.’ He will put much of his time playing his role as the Chief Political Commissar of the Uganda Police. Apparently, his role will be to organize an urgent program of political education to all police units, and setting up a school to aid political education.

Sources confirm that in December, Asan will hold his seminar on political education with the officers.

Kasingye has been replaced by SSP Emilian Kayima, who was the spokes person of Kampala Metropolitan.

“In order to enable the Chief of Political Commissar, am de linking once again the office of the police spokesperson from that of the political commissariat” Kayihura said in a message to all police units yesterday.

Thank you for your service Asan, and good luck on your new roles.
