Wedding Bells for Dorcus Inzikuru

At some point, we all find that one person whose drama and converations match ours, and we tie a knot with them. It is wedding bells for Ugandan golden girl, Dorcus Inzikuru, as she married her long time lover. The two made it official and signed.

Inzikuru became a much praised athlete when she became the first Ugandan woman to win gold in 3000m Steeplechase at the 2006 Commonwealth games in Melbourne. This year, as Stella Chesang takes her place, and Joshua Cheptegei lights up the successes she started in athletics, the golden girl decided to put a ring on it.

On the 14th of April, at St. Francis Chapel, Makerere University, this former runner celebrated with her friends and family.

Guess it is time to settledown now, as he beautiful champion walked down the aisle in a glamorous white dress. This comes after she finished her education and graduated from school. We are so happy for her. Congratulatioms tonyou Inzikuru.

Let us get up from our seats, raise our glasses and toast to this celebration.

This woman is a big name and inspiration to the athletic world around the country. She has done magnificent work and had gone of the scene for some years to handle some other business of her own.

Dorcus Inzikuru was at school, adding another qualification on top of her heavy CV, She has completed and over the weekend, graduated from Ndejje University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.

Dorcus Inzikuru first climbed to heights when she got for Uganda the first golden medal in the 3000m steeplechase race. This brought the country to a standstill, and she became the golden girl.

We still do not know whether after this degree, she will get back to racing. However, she will always remain a hero to the country.

  • The 2005 World Championships (Gold)
  • The 2005 World Athletics Final (Gold)
  • The 2006 Commonwealth Games (Gold) 

For 5000m, she won;

  • The 2000 World Junior Championships (Gold)
  • The 2002 African Games (Silver)
  • The 2003 Afro-Asian Games (Bronze)

And then her personal best races, She did the 2000 m Steeplechase in 6:04.46 and the 3000 m Steeplechase in 9:15.04.
