1 FM CEO And Owner Risks Being Kicked Out Of Parliament

For those of you who do not read Ghafla, 1 Fm’s CEO &/or owner Alex Kosgey is a member of the sitting August House representing Emgwen constituency risks being kicked out of the sitting August House because of absonding from seatings in Parliament. And what is even more surprising is the fact that the move came after two voters filed a petition with the National Assembly seeking his removal.

The petitions are based on Article 103(1) (b) of the Constitution which empowers the Speaker to declare office of an MP vacant in case they miss eight consecutive sittings without his written permission.

My attention has been drawn to alleged absence for eight days during the current session by member for Rongai and Emgwen. The issues were brought separately by Mr Sylvester Kibet from Rongai and Sam and Langat advocates on behalf of Charles Sang who hails from Emgwen constituency,” Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso told the National Assembly Tuesday. In all fairness, the claim regarding to the absence of the two members should be thoroughly investigated and reported back to the House within 14 days.

I therefore refer this matter to the Powers and Privileges Committee who shall investigate and report back to the House.

The Powers and Privileges committee chaired by the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and is charged with investigating all matters pertaining to the discipline of members.
