A lot of national awards pretend to want to award emerging talent – and local talent too- but they almost always fall flat and disappoint their core fan base.
Historically,there has never been niche awards in Kenya not just to celebrate the biggest music stars but also other sectors of the competitive economy and artistry including Matatus,Campuses,companies,Clubs and even churches all rolled up into one huge Awards Gala.
The Groove Awards have been groundbreaking in their quest to penetrate the localities and notice regional talents but still,all of that is entirely based on music – Gospel music to be precise.
But surely,there’s other sectors of production and innovation that sure need to be noticed and awarded.
Sectors that have built an empire from scratch,sectors that serve a whole region diligently,sectors that affect an entire County,sectors that have become pillars and cornerstones of cities and sectors that provide amazing services and relaxation for locals across the nation.
And those are the very forgotten sectors that Vibe City Awards is planning to recognize – and Award.
Founded by music icon Joe Kariuki,the Vibe City Awards are a series of back-to-back national awards encompassing the whole country.
The Award galas will be held in a series of events across the five major Kenyan towns which are Eldoret,Kisumu,Nakuru,Mombasa and ultimately Nairobi.

Keen on recognizing all forms of talent and creations,Joe Kariuki has decided that the Vibe City Awards are not just a kawaida music awards fete but a much larger vision that encompasses all aspects of regional excellence including education,entertainment,transport,tourism,nightlife and even beauty.
“We are having probably the broadest array of categories ever invited in an awards platform… In addition to Best Club,Best DJ and Best Hood,we shall also have Best Matatu,Best Restaurant,Best Tourist attraction. Yes,even Best Church and so on and so forth. Like,we are awarding a town by it’s own excellence,it’s own amazing creations and it’s best of the best. Of course,there’ll be Man of The town and Woman of the Town too… It’s something you haven’t even seen before. It’s exciting and purely thrilling… “ Joe says.
