Why Victor Wanyama Has Refused To Play For Southampton

The celebrated Harambee Stars captain who plies his trade in South Coast England is on what could be termed as a go-slow as he doesn’t work with his employers, Southampton.

Wanyama has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham to join his former coach Mouricio Pochettino who left to be in charge of the London-based club.

Pochettino is a great admirer of Wanyama’s style of football.

Wanyama is said to have fallen out with current tactician Ronald Koeman and is seeking a move away with his likely destination being Tottenham Hotspurs.

Southampton has, however, refused to let Wanyama go, saying they cannot afford to lose more players.

Wanyama is said to be hacked by the departure of key players from the club among them Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne who left to join Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.

The Kenyan midfielder was left out of the squad that played on Thursday night in the Europa League qualifications.

His doctors said he has a slightly stomach discomfort but it is believed Wanyama told his manager not to include him in the squad as he seeks a move away from the South Coast.

The current transfer window closes at the end of August.
