After Alfred Mutua, Kidero Bans Gor Mahia And AFC Leopards From Playing In Nairobi

I was there when it all started. We were enjoying our game as the two teams battled in the sun-baked Nyayo National Stadium.

But I realized there were some individuals who were not even watching the game, and they are the same guys who started the ugly confrontations that later saw the game get abandoned.

Then they went ahead to destroy property worth thousands of shillings.

This is the reason, just like me and you, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has banned Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards from playing in the capital.

Kidero follows in the footsteps of Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who banned Gor Mahia from playing in the Kenyatta stadium in Machakos after they destroyed property worth millions of shillings after losing their game.

On Sunday, Nairobi experienced the same unfortunate incidences. The game was abandoned after crowd trouble erupted. Property was destroyed by the rowdy fans.

Early on, Gor fans allegedly torched a county council van in the CBD. This and many others are the reasons why Kidero has said that the teams may not play in Nairobi again.

“The governor is incensed by what happened on Sunday and has moved to ban the (AFC and Gor Mahia),”  Goal.com quotes a source from City Hall.
