After Minor Hiccup, Basketmouth To Perform In Kenya After All

Basketmouth had to drop out of the Africa’s Kings of Comedy show due to scheduling after conflicts after postponement following the Westgate Incident. But you still have a chance to see him live in Kenya at Opa Williams’ Nite Of A Thousand Laughs.

The Nite Of A Thousand Laughs event will take place on 9th November at the Carnivore Grounds between 7.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m.

Basketmouth was born Bright Okpocha in Ajegunle Lagos on September 14th, 1978, but he is a native of Abia State. At 13, he discovered he had drumming skills and pursued it as a hobby in church and in a band. He got into rapping three years later, performing with seven other members in the group, Da Psychopaths, before they split.

After a terrible start, he finally grew into his own in 2001 when he got his big break after meeting Ali Baba. He has, to date, performed alongside the likes of Joe, Boyz 2 Men, Sean Paul, Beyonce, Wyclef Jean, Dru Hill, Akon, Snoop Dogg, Ciara and Chris Brown among others.

Basketmouth has a B.Sc in Sociology and Anthropology from University of Benin. He is married to Elsie Uzoma, who he is raising two children with.

Opa Williams brings Africa’s top entertainers on one stage. Come and experience the laughs and music from Nigeria’s BasketMouth, South Africa’s Nduliso, Uganda’s Pablo and Malawi’s Daliso. Joining the strong African acts will be Kenya’s own Sleepy, Chipukeezy and Ayeiya with music by Mercy Myra, Dela and DJ Frida.

Regular tickets will go for Kshs. 2,000 while front row tickets will be Kshs. 5,000 (comes with a drink). Whole tables with drinks and chops will go for Kshs. 105,000. Tickets can be bought at ticketsasa.com and Dormans.
