CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: THE 87TH OSCARS BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM AWARD

Submissions for the 87th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), has already begun and since Oscar accepts one picture per country, each country’s submission has to be done by an organization, jury or committee composed of people from the film industry, whose members’ names must be sent to the Academy for consideration for the award which is scheduled to take place on February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

A Foreign Language Film is defined as a Feature – Length Motion Picture produced outside the United States of America with a predominantly non-English dialogue Track. The Academy Awards accepts ONLY ONE PICTURE per Country to compete for this Category Award.  Click HERE to download( zipped by winrar) the “BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM AWARD” Submission Packet which consists of the Special Rules, the Entry Forms, the Digital Qualifications & Submission rules and the Check List. Kindly note that the PDF Entry Forms #2 and #3 can be edited, saved and printed from Adobe Reader and thus one can complete these forms on their computer. Also note that Form #3 requires a handwritten signature. 

Any filmmaker who wishes to submit a Film is advised to deliver his/her dully filled and signed Entry Forms and a Single DVD Copy of the submitted Feature Film (For the Selection committee’s review only) to the KENYA FILM COMMISSION (KFC) Offices no later than 5PM (Local Time)on MONDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2014.All entries should be addressed as Follows:  KENYA OSCARS SELECTION COMMITTEE C/O CEO, KFC THE “BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM” CATEROGY AWARD KENYA FILM COMMISSION JUMUIA PLACE, LENANA ROAD   Once all submissions are received, The Kenya Oscars Selection Committee shall convene to evaluate all the entries as per the set out Academy Awards Special Rules.  If any one film is found to meet all the stipulated Academy Awards eligibility conditions, then The Kenya Oscars Selection Committee shall declare this Film as Kenya’s Official Entry which shall then be Submitted to the Academy Awards for Consideration for the “BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM AWARD”.  The film’s submission (which should be in the Format Specified by the Academy Awards – at the Film Producer’s cost) to the Academy Awards by the committee – via the Kenya Film Commission – must reach their offices no later than 5PM PT (Pacific Time) on WEDNESDAY 1ST OCTOBER 2012.  The 87th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), is scheduled to take place on February 22, 2015, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles  For any enquiries on the above kindly contact The Kenya Oscars Selection Committee, Chairperson Wambui Kairo on ;  For further information regarding The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards – The Oscars, kindly visit the official website:http://www.oscars.org/
