Hacking any showbiz scene, world over, is not a walk in the park. We’ve witnessed 1001 singers plunge into the entertainment but fizzle out as fast as they came after a few botched attempts to make a name for themselves. However, for Gospel sensation Daddy Owen, it’s been 10 years since he getting into entertainment and looking back he’s happy that he’s left a mark.

Owen started off in 2004 and since then he’s on an upward trajectory. He revolutionized the Gospel scene with hits like Shilingi Ya Kenya, System Ya Kapungala, Tobina, among others; all of which have gained recognition from the Groove Awards (2010 – Male Artiste of The Year) and the coveted MTV Africa Music Awards (2010 – Best Anglo African Act).

With 4 albums to his name with a 5th one in the works, the multiple CHAT & Groove Award winner has seen it all having risen from a graffiti artist whose work is visible on javs plying 58, 9, 15 & 23 routes in Nairobi.

Despite all these achievements, Daddy Owen has a heart of gold. The accomplished singer is also a disability ambassador. Through his brainchild, Malaika Trust, he gives opportunity to the unsung heroes to be recognized in the society. It will be remembered that he did a tribute jam with Denno, at a moment when the society had turned a blind eye to him.

His favourite Bible verse? James 1:4, that says it is through patience and endurance that one will be able to live a fully purpose driven life.
