Pastor Andrew Young Muiru is one of this year’s nominees at the Mwafaka Awards.

Andrew Young is the group leader of Maximum Melodies, a music group that has been active since 1997 under Maximum Miracle Centre, the church founded by his father, Pius Muiru, who was one of the pioneer televangelists in the country.

As the group’s leader, he is an inspirational figure to troubled youth who he leads and hosts during his monthly Gith concerts which are always packed to capacity. According to the Maximum Melodies site, he “works really hard to see the best out of the group members. Loves challenges because they make him better. “

Pastor Andrew Young will compete with runner David Rudisha, soccer player Victor Wanyama, Rev Kathy Kiuna, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Pastor Andrew Young.

The awards show will take place on the 1st of September, 2013 at the KICC. The red carpet will be open from 1.00 p.m., while the doors will be closed at 3.00 p.m. Advance tickets will be going for Kshs. 250 and Kshs. 300 at the gate. For bookings, call 0728 384 937.
