Ruth Kamande was crowned Miss Langata and the country went berserk. She won the hearts of many after the media glorified her beauty.

But some didn’t forget the fact that just a year ago she stabbed her boyfriend 22 times after she suspected him of cheating on her.

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua was among Kenyans who were disturbed by media glorification of Ruth Kamande.

Mutua also subscribed to the idea of glorifying criminals more so coldblooded killers by media could groom such kind of characters.

“I know people can reform and indeed the prisons are meant to reform criminals to become better citizens, but for someone who killed another person so brutally a year ago, by stabbing them 22 times with a knife, I think there is absolutely nothing beautiful about them. Not so soon. The dead was a human being, someone’s son. A year down the line the killer is being celebrated under the banner “Beauty behind bars.” I find this a bit disturbing. What are your thoughts guys?” Ezekiel Mutua posted online.
