Embu Blogger Sparks Bitter Outrage Online After He Made This Post About Artists And Musicians

Controversial Embu blogger Charles Kimenjo did not anticipate the kind of mad backlash he would receive after he made a seemingly-harmless Facebook post pressing for some authenticity issues amongst Embus artistic fraternity.

All the heat started after a ragtag bunch of some aggrieved haggardly villagers called a Press Conference to lament about the fact that they had been sidelined and shortchanged by the Embu Government as far as remuneration is concerned.

That was not the problem.

The problem was the fact that these scrawny bunch of unschooled village idlers were calling themselves ‘Embu Artists’. And then all hell broke lose.

Another section of ‘Embu Artists’ who consider themselves more deserving of that glossy title came up to discredit this other bunch of dudes from the village.

This new bunch of artists are generally young,20-something year-olds who rap and sing and perform around the streets of Embu town.

They’re also the more vocal, visible, enlightened and better dressed version of Embu artists and therefore, they were pissed that some rats from the caves were also claiming that title…..Adn even appearing on TV,Citizen TV no less, and hogging all the limelight.

And that’s where Charles Kimenjo comes in with this very fiery Facebook update…

United 4 Talent

Tomorrow the 4th October 2016 u4t team of Performing artist, musicians, actors, dancers,MCs,bloggers and other arts are inviting you for a media briefing.

We wish to respond to the Karurumo issue ,and present a team of legitimate Embu artist against the Karurumo team masquerading to be artist .

As Embu Artist we do not recognize that team claiming to be Embu artist ,we feel the need to protect the image of genuine artist representation from political sycophants in the name of artist.

This update opened up a can of resentment and bitterness, beefs and anger at Charles and his assumed so-called legitimate Embu artists.

Charles was attacked for playing the us-versus-them card and was largely accused of bias and favoritism with people asking him how exactly does an Embu artists look like. Or an artist for that matter.

The comment section of that particular post was a heated battleground with hundreds of mixed comments from all quarters.

Comments like this one from Muturi wa Karuguti stand out;

And this one too from Eliud Njiru…

Kimenjo still has his backers who include rappers Lefty,Kimathi Marshall and others who vow to stand by him and wipe out the other not-so-glamarous version of Embu artists out of town.

More disagreements,

It just never ends…

Another very sober comment,

Question remains, just how exactly should an artist look like? Or what exactly is the matter here?
