EXCLUSIVE: Another Kenyan Joins the Flourishing Hollywood Film Industry. He Speaks to Ghafla! About His First Movie

Before Lupita happened (in a huge way) there were other illustrious Kenyans in Hollywood on the silver screen. And year in year out, the number keeps ballooning.

The latest to join the league of Kenyans in Hollywood is Gospel singer Silas Mwenda.

“Apart from doing Gospel music as I had told you, I ventured into acting too, and i was lucky to be selected to feature in an amazing film called “Love Lilly” which was shot in Denver Colorado, New Mexico and Los Angeles by Chesthut Films,” Silas exclusively tells Ghafla!

“Love Lilly” is a dramatic family film focusing more on issues affecting American families and Silas plays Mr. Gower, a troubled pharmacist.

After successful screening in major theaters in downtown Denver Colorado and Downtown Los Angeles, California last week , “Love Lilly” film will be airing on Fox TV this fall.

“In addition to that, am proud to announce that “Love Lilly” has just been selected for the 2014 PARE LORENTZ INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, a prestigious festival that will take place in New York City in mid September,” reveals Silas.

Silas is overwhelmed by the success of the movie and the positive reception it has got on American TV.

“It’s my first film ever but it’s so surprising how fast it has been picked by the major American film outlets. Personally am taking this as a great opportunity and God-given avenue as a Gospel artiste to pass His great message to people all over the world through film and touch people’s lives all over the world, something that been my great desire for long time.”

He adds, “It’s not about money or fame but it’s all about God. It’s a ministry as far as am concerned. Am so grateful to God and my fans for all their support. Thank you so much.”
