Celebrated Nigerian writer is coming to Kenya as part of the Kwani? Trust’s 10th anniversary celebration, ‘Reflections On A Decade.’

Literary phenom, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, will be in the country for a series of events dubbed ‘Reflections On A Decade.’ The first one being A Lecture On Americanah taking place this Friday, 29th November between 2.30 p.m. and 4.00 p.m. at Taifa Hall (University of Nairobi). Chimamanda Adichie Ngozi is a 36-year old author, most famous for her books, Purple Hibiscus (2003) and Half A Yellow Sun (2006). She has also written The Thing Around Your Neck (2009) and Americanah earlier this year.

Lecture On Americanah will add to her many speaking engagements including two TED appearances and  Commonwealth Lecture at the Guildhall in London. Chimamanda was shortlisted for the 2002 Caine Prize for African Writing (2002), won the BBC Short Story Competition (2002), shortlisted for Orange Prize for Fiction (2004), longlisted for the Booker Prize (2004) and was among one of the MacArthur Foundation grantees (2008) among other recogintions.
