Inspired By Miriam Makeba, This Is The Biggest Thing Already Happening In The Kenyan Gospel Industry

The Kenyan gospel industry has been on the rise since the days of veterans like Reuben Kigame, the late Ben Bahati and the late Angela Chibalonza.

Much has changed in the course of this time despite the challenges that gospel music artistes have to go through to make ends meet.

Lack of support, internal wrangles and hypocrisy are some of the challenges that have threatened to throw every effort into jeopardy and only time will tell if the strong ones are likely to pull themselves out of this.

Despite all this, more and more artistes are throwing themselves in the boat to add value to the industry. And among those who are already doing it big is songstress Liz Namnyak.

Little known yet very talented and already causing tongues to wag, Namnyak, born and raised in Dagoretti, Nairobi draws her inspiration from the late Miriam Makeba, a woman who defined Africa to the world through her music and talent.

Liz has already bagged prestigious awards among them the prestigious TheTalanta Awards, an international award where she was voted the best upcoming female artiste in the Non-USA based category.

Liz says that what keeps her going is her calling by God to encourage and build up people through her gift of music.

“I have have received a lot of feedback about how my music has changed their perspectives and life. In fact many say there is something about my music that is so Divine and because of that I give all the glory to God because it is all about Him, not me. Most Songs I have written have been borne out of prayer and the inspiration is from the Holy Ghost,” Liz says.

Here is one of her songs she recently released:
