Kenyan female celebrity featured on CNN after unique Vogue challenge (Photos)

Soon as the #VogueChallenge hit the Kenyan market, public figures and netizens took it up, with a hope of someday gracing the American monthly fashion and lifestyle magazine´s cover.

Talking of celebrities, we have seen the likes of Sheila Mwanyigha, Kate actress, Sarah Hassan, Julie Gichuru, Diana Marua, Amina Abdi Rabar, Kalekye Mumo just to name a few…being among the female personalities who took up the challenge.

Well enough, everyone stepped into their best outfits, put on their best faces, and starred like this was their moment to shine. Creativity was at its best, with manipulation employed to best fit into the magazine´s cover showing itself.

However, like they say, there can be only one winner – for lack of a better word.

Among the many Kenyan female celebrities who tried their luck, bubbly radio personality Kalekye Mumo was the one who bagged the crown home.

Celebrated media personality, Kalekye Mumo

This is after CNN picked her cover and acknowledged her participation in the challenge as one of the many people in the world taking up the #VogueChallenge to promote diversity and show black culture.

Announcing the good news to fans, she shared an excerpt from the article and captioned:

Oooh thank you Lord….
From Kenya to the world ????????????????

Kalekye Mumo´s Vogue Challenge recognized Internationally

Speaking to CNN, the ex-radio girl divulged:

I did this challenge to not only use my voice but use my face to show the beautiful, talented black people across the world, let alone Africa and Kenya that could grace the magazine with finesse. My hope is that the fashion industry will begin to embrace black faces of all shapes and sizes – especially since I am a fabulous plus-size woman.

The 44-year old picked on a red-laced dress with some fancy neck ripples and a belt to bring out her curvy figure. Looking like some no-nonsense boss lady, Kalekye chose to have the magazine´s title behind her face and looks like it worked.

One would think she had expected this, after taking up the challenge with a caption that dared:

“And they will know who you are without you saying your name” ❤️❤️❤️ #VogueChallenge ➡️swipe left
