Dennis Oliech’s career got a new lease of life after South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) side – Free State Stars invited him over for trials.
The Kenyan football started training with Free State Stars sometimes in May this year. Oliech had been clubless for years after his contract with Dubai DSC ended.
Strict foreign quota
Oliech won’t be signed by the South African club after all. Free State Stars’ coach Luc Eymael told Nairobi News that Oliech’s potential transfer had been hindered by the strict foreign quota in South Africa Premier Soccer League.
The foreign quota rule in South Africa Premier Soccer League allows clubs to register a maximum seven foreign players in their squad.
“I lacked an extra spot for foreigners and that is the reason we did not sign a foreign striker,” said Luc Eymael.
