Eric Omondi has announced that he will be vying for a parliamentary seat in the Mount Kenya region which would be a first -not just for the comedian but for Kenyans as he would be an “outsider”.
Ordinarily, a Luo like Eric Omondi comes from a community often at odds with the Kikuyu political class. And the narrative has been sold since the days of Jomo Kenyatta who drove this agenda with the full government machinery.

Eric Omondi is aware of this and that is why his statement was made with a cheeky glint in his eyes. He was interviewed by PLug TV when he made the assertion. Whether or not he will be successful remains to be seen. But following historic voting patterns, he will be facing a Sisyphean task.
