Athletics World Mourns Tragic Death of Young Marathoner Kelvin Kiptum

The athletics community is mourning the loss of promising young marathoner Kelvin Kiptum, who passed away in a car accident on Sunday night. Kiptum, along with his coach, died tragically in the accident.

He had recently shown incredible potential, breaking the world record at the Chicago Marathon last year. Many in the sporting world have paid tribute to his talent and dedication, recalling his achievements and expressing their condolences.

Kipchoge described Kiptum as a young athlete who had his whole life ahead of him.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic passing of the Marathon World Record Holder and rising star Kelvin Kiptum.

“An athlete who had a whole life ahead of him to achieve incredible greatness,” Kipchoge wrote as he condoled with Kiptum’s young family.

Some Kenyans, on the other hand, took issue with the tribute, criticizing the athlete for not publicly congratulating Kiptum on breaking his world record.
