Killed Kisii blogger revealed his impending death in a Facebook post

Exactly 33 days before his passing, Duke Nyabaro expressed ominous thoughts about death.

On March 5, 2024, Nyabaro posted on social media, describing death as beautiful and highlighting the eternal silence it brings. He mused about the tranquility of lying in the earth, with grass gently swaying above, and embracing a timeless existence of peace and forgiveness. His words hinted at a profound acceptance of mortality.

In another post on March 6, 2024, Nyabaro hinted at the burdens weighing heavily on his mind, suggesting that even when he sought solace in relaxation and alcohol, his troubles persisted. Few recognized the depth of his message at the time.

On Sunday, April 7, 2024, tragedy struck as Nyabaro was found hanging outside a shop in Nyaora Corner Village, Kitutu Chache South Constituency. His neck was bound with a belt, indicating a grim end to his life.

A controversial figure known for his political commentary, particularly within Bonchari Constituency, Nyabaro also served as an educator at Chacha Moronge High School in Kehancha, Migori County.

The discovery of his body by churchgoers, along with the mysterious circumstances surrounding his death, raised suspicions among residents. Concerns were raised about the inconsistency of the crime scene, notably the dryness of Nyabaro’s clothes despite heavy rainfall the previous night.

A subsequent postmortem examination revealed that Nyabaro had been strangled, dispelling any notion of suicide. Bonchari MP Charles Onchoke, a close friend of Nyabaro, joined family members in demanding thorough and swift investigations into the murder.
