Maureen Waititu, a well-known social media influencer and attorney, has been open about her struggle with weight reduction and the factors that led her to choose to have a gastric balloon surgery.

Maureen spoke up to Lynn Ngugi about her miraculous transformation, her struggles, and her goals for a better living.

The mother of two stated that she had used the non-invasive weight-loss technique known as intragastric balloon implantation to lose an amazing 20 kg in just four months.

Maureen was open and honest about the reasons behind her desire to lose weight, particularly during the trying time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

She became aware that her weight gain had an effect on her health, particularly in light of her pre-existing illnesses like rheumatoid arthritis and asthma.

“My doctor was moving from one medication to another. Because of the weight I had added during the Covid-19 period, I just woke up and I was looking like a little ball. With the rheumatoid arthritis and asthma, I was like, I have come this far only to…”

Maureen researched several weight loss strategies, including dietary adjustments and exercise, since she was determined to make a positive difference.

But because her efforts were not producing the expected outcomes, she decided to seek advice from Nairobi Bariatric.

When Maureen stepped on the scale and realized the seriousness of her condition, her medical professionals recommended the gastric balloon operation as a feasible remedy for her weight loss objectives.

Maureen made the decision to go with the treatment, and she is happy with the results.

“I have lost 20kgs, and I feel so fabulous,”

But Maureen also talked openly about the difficulties and negative repercussions she faced after the operation.

She had to adjust to eating frequently little meals, having acid reflux, bloating, and needing to sleep on her left side.

Despite these difficulties, Maureen admitted that she lost weight quickly and had to become accustomed to her new eating habits.

“The first week I lost 15kg, and I would get sick, but now it has settled, and I run a lot and work out. It is a weight loss aid and not a shortcut”

After her relationship ended, she also described how her struggles with acute melancholy and anxiety frequently caused her to turn to food for solace.
