Prostitutes Increase Prices Due to Rising Cost of Living

Prostitutes in Tana River County have announced that they will be increasing the prices of their services starting in August. The increase is due to the rising cost of living in the country, which has made it difficult for the prostitutes to make a living.

The head of the group of prostitutes in the county told the Taifa Leo newspaper that the price of condoms, food, and water has all increased in recent months. Hotel owners have also raised the prices of rooms, which has made it even more difficult for the prostitutes to make a living.

“The situation is getting more difficult, and we are asking our customers to understand and accept the real situation,” she said. “We are all looking for a living, and if you want me to make you happy, you have no choice but to make me happy too.”

The minimum price for intimacy will now be Sh500. This is a 10% increase from the previous price of Sh450. The prostitutes say that they have to increase the prices in order to cover their basic needs.

The announcement of the price increase comes just a few weeks after comedian Jaymo Ule Msee made a request to the government to tax the services of prostitutes. He said that it is better to be taxed if the government really wants to recognize and protect the livelihood of prostitutes.

It remains to be seen how the government will respond to the price increase and the request for taxation. However, it is clear that the rising cost of living is having a significant impact on the lives of prostitutes in Tana River County.
