Sad: Girl who repeated form four with hopes of scoring better grade commits suicide as 2017 KCSE results are released

2017 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate has committed suicide after she scored ‘poor grade’. The girl repeated form four with the hopes of attaining better grade.

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i released the results of 2017 KCSE on Wednesday December 20th. Naomi Karimi Kawira from Pangani Girls was top candidate with a mean score of 87.011 points while Sharon Chepchumba from Moi girls came second best with 86.83 points.

KCSE candidate Carren Ouma went into shock upon receiving her results. Carren hoped to score C+ to join public university but her dreams were shuttered by the results she received.

Carren scored a mean grade of C- when she sat for 2017 KCSE at a school in Migori County. The disappointed girl opted to end her own life upon receiving her results.

She scored C- in 2016 KCSE

Carren first sat for KCSE in 2016 and scored a mean grade of C minus. He she repeated form four hoping to attain the minimum university entry qualification of mean grade C+.

Carren committed suicide when she matched the grade she scored in 2016. The deceased died when she jumped into a well located in their homestead on Wednesday night.
