Isiolo man slits father’s neck following argument

Three violent incidents in Kenya over the past week have left three people dead and one seriously injured.

In a strange occurrence in Sololo, Isiolo County, a 70-year-old man had his throat cut during a fight with his son. Safo Wako’s body was discovered in a pool of blood in the Manyatta Dibu Dadacha neighborhood. A 35-year-old man also died in Meru following an alleged attack. Julius Mutuma Mubichi was attacked by a known individual at the Gaokoromone market on October 9 and died five days later from his injuries.

In Mau Summit, Nakuru County, a man was struck and killed during a dispute over a dog. Kennedy Too died in the hospital after being knocked on the head by Wesley Bett, the dog’s owner, who was enraged after Too kicked the dog as it crossed the road. Bett is still at large and police are searching for him.

In Mandera County, a 25-year-old man was hospitalized with significant cuts after being attacked by a perpetrator in the Bulla Border Point neighborhood. Hassan Ibrahim Adan reported to police that on October 12, a man he knew attacked and slashed him for refusing to drink water.

Police are investigating all three incidents and have urged anyone with information to contact them.

Retired president Kibaki’s cousin and Abdi Kuti become first independent candidates to win governor seat

Laikipia and Isiolo counties are the only two counties in Kenya that have elected independent candidates as their next governors for the period 2017-2022.

Retired president Mwai Kibaki’s cousin has trounced the incumbent with a slight margin of over 1,800 votes to carry the day in Laikipia County.

Interim IEBC results shows that Ndiritu Muriithi is leading with 100,109 votes (50.47%) while the incumbent Joshua Wakahora Irungu of Jubilee is second with 98233 (49.53%). The results are from 530 out of 531 polling stations.

In Isiolo, Senator Mohamed Abdi Kuti who sought governor seat as an independent candidate is leading the incumbent Godana Doyo Adhi of Party for Development and Reforms (PDR) with over 6,700 votes.

IEBC provisional result for Isiolo County indicates that Abdi Kuti is ahead with 20,348 (41.81%) while Godana Doyo follows second with 13,640 (28.02%) in 178 out of 195 polling stations.
