Miss Lang’ata Prison Ruth Kamande handed death sentence, judge says she showed no mercy, still shows no remorse

Miss Lang’ata Women’s Prison Ruth Wanjiru Kamande will now spend the rest of her life in jail after she was given the death sentence for murdering her boyfriend.

Wanjiru, who went on to win Miss Lang’ata Prison a few years ago, stabbed her boyfriend Farid Mohammed 22 times at his Buru Buru house in 2015. She found love messages in his phone from his former high school lovers a thing that made her lose composer and attack him.

No mercy, no remorse

Justice Jessie Lessit at Millimani Court said Kamande showed no mercy, still shows no remorse and deserves nothing less than death while making the ruling.

“I want young people to know that it is not cool to kill your boyfriend or girlfriend. Instead, it is cool to walk away from a relationship when it breaks down, and to forgive,” Lessit said.

Kamande had claimed that she acted out of pain since she feared her boyfriend could have infected her with diseases.

“Your Honour, it pained me to know that the person whom l loved and trusted so much was to ruin my life by infecting me with HIV and Aids,” Kamande had testified.
