Cause of Mugithi maestro Mighty Salim’s death revealed

It remains a bigger shocker that Mighty Salim is no longer with us. Having made music for years, Mugithi fans especially from central Kenya.

For those who don’t know, Mighty Salim is a small brother to the late Paul Mwangi alias Salim Junior; who died on January 23, 2016 after a short illness. Mighty Salim on the other hand has passed on 5 years later after his brother; something his family confirmed on Sunday, 25 January.

His death coming days after performing during his late brothers memorial – left fans linking this incident to witchcraft. According to fans Mighty Salim passed on after refusing to undergo surgery – due to the teachings of the ‘Ngomi’ cult; which do not allow their members to visit hospitals.

His father Joe Salim, has however brushed off the claims stating that son refused to undergo surgery due to the alleged cult.

He went on to reveal that doctors advised the late Mighty Salim to avoid surgery which would have killed him instantly due to the blood pressure complications, diabetes and the kidney failure issue.

Mighty Salim had a problem and I know many of his fans recall him holding a Harambee. He was diagnosed with kidney failure. He also had high blood pressure and diabetes.

The heartbroken father who has now lost two of his sons, Salim Junior and Mighty Salim went on to add;

When Mighty was set to fly to India for surgery; a doctor advised us to abandon the plans, opting for dialysis. He feared the operation would be his end due to other complications

Popular Mugithi Artist Is Dead!

Kenya’s popular Mugithi Artiste Timothy Njuguna, aka Mighty Salim has passed on. This happened a day after he hosted his brother Salim Junior’s 5th memorial. The legendary singer breathed his last on the evening of Sunday, January 24.

According to his close family, Mighty Salim succumbed to diabetes.

His brother Salim died in January 23, 2016.

According to reports, the singer was diagnosed with diabetes in 2003 and in 2018. The reports indicated kidney failure and commenced dialysis.

In 2018, the singer was bedridden and was in dire need of KSh 2.5 million to undergo a kidney transplant.

However, he claimed his plea fell on deaf ears as his friends and politicians whom he graced their rallies abandoned him after the diagnosis.

”Today a legend has left us, but the music lessons, teachings he thought and his life will stay with us forever. Rest in peace, mighty Salim. GO WELL BUD.”

Another tweeted, ”Another curtain has been pulled down to allow the tune of the angels to dance and celebrate a life of a son, a guitarist and a song composer. Rest in peace, Mighty Salim.”

His Mugithi song is still a hit and plays in all kinds of ceremonies. Through his music, the legend still lives on.
