Here’s the lowdown of the spectacular journey this competition will undertake:

The Auditions: The pulse-pounding auditions will take center stage across the Mountain, Lake, Coast, Nairobi, and Rift regions. It all kicks off in Thika, but stay tuned for further audition dates to be announced on the official Smirnoff social media platforms – Instagram and Facebook.

The Top 20: Our meticulous organizers and discerning judges will meticulously select the crème de la crème from the video submissions, forging the elite Top 20.

The Thika Showdown: The Top 20 DJs will engage in a face-off at the Unleash Your Edge Fiesta event in Thika, an electrifying prelude to the main event. The judges will handpick the exceptional Top 12 DJs who will carry the torch forward in this fierce competition.

Battle Royale on “IWAKE“: From Thika, the Top 12 DJs will take center stage on the KTN entertainment sensation show “IWAKE,” captivating audiences over six to seven heart-pounding weeks. Home viewers will don the judge’s hat, participating in a riveting voting process that culminates in a dramatic elimination.

The nail-biting elimination unfolds as follows:

  • Week one: 12 contestants will square off with five-minute sets, followed by a two-week consumer voting phase to crown the Top 6.

  • The Top 6 will then unleash their skills on live TV with awe-inspiring 10-minute performances, followed by another two-week voting period to determine the Top 4.

  • It’s a showdown of epic proportions when the Top 4 hit the live TV stage, delivering jaw-dropping 15-minute sets. Once again, the viewers will wield their voting power for two intense weeks to unveil the Top 2.

  • In a grand finale of musical mastery, the Top 2 will go head-to-head in a thrilling 15-minute live performance showdown, where the audience will decide the regional champion.

This electrifying process will unfold in each of the five regions. Once the dust settles, the five regional victors will converge for an epic showdown in front of a live audience and a panel of esteemed judges, where the Kenyan champion will be crowned.

Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) Officially Launches A New Smirnoff Variant

Nairobi, June 3rd 2023… Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) has officially launched a new Smirnoff variant in the 7th edition of Unleash your Edge Fiesta held at Impala grounds.

The new variant termed ‘Smirnoff pineapple punch’ under EABL’s vast portfolio combines the smooth taste of Smirnoff vodka with a refreshing blend of pineapple and ginger beer flavors. The result is a deliciously fruity and crisp drink that’s perfect for any occasion with friends and family.

This comes in two formats which is a 330ml can and 300ml bottle and has an Alcohol by Volume (ABV) of 5.5%. This will be sold in bars and restaurants at a recommended retail price (RRP) of KES 200/- for the can while the bottle format will be going for KES 180/-.

Speaking at the launch event, KBL Managing Director Mr. Mark Ocitti said the creative idea is to let consumers discover the alternative to the ordinary by creating flavour drinking experiences that are effortless, yet mischievous and distinctive.

“As a consumer-based business, we take time to study the market and identify our consumer needs and how to satisfy them. Our innovations department took a deep dive into what our consumers needed and noted a pattern in which they wanted a new, refreshing and exciting brand. We are constantly investing and renovating our brands to stay on par with dynamic consumer trends,” said Mr Ocitti.

“This will be our seventh edition of the Unleash Your edge fiesta”, a campaign we introduced last year that is all about good vibes and good times with friends. Since our first event, our aim was to bring to life adventures that are beyond the usual, by creating flavourful experiences that are effortless yet mischievous,” he added.

On the other hand, KBL’s Innovations Commercialization Manager Lillian Ndirangu noted that the new variant is for consumers who are looking for exciting and unique experiences, who want to express themselves in new ways and spaces creatively with flavorful drinks (Sweet and fruity) at affordable prices. Smirnoff Pineapple Punch is best enjoyed when crispy cold to bring out the flavours in the drink.

“The target consumer for Smirnoff Pineapple punch is your 25 to 34 years old consumer who are trendsetters, and fun lovers. KBL has emphasized innovation as one of the company’s key growth pillars, with the company’s profit growth in the financial year ending June 2022 being partially attributed to investment behind brands and innovation in the route to market in response to consumer behaviour shifts.

Smirnoff takes over Machakos town with Unleash Your Edge Fiesta

East African Breweries Limited (EABL), under the Smirnoff Ready To Drink (RTD) brand, treated tens of thousands of music and fashion fans to an electrifying weekend of top acts at Machakos Golf Club..

The sixth iteration of the Smirnoff Unleash your Edge Fiesta delighted attendees with top-tier performances from local artists including Chris Kaiga, Buruklyn Boyz, MC Gogo, Maima MGM, Kaneda, Art In Motion, Dj Roc, Dj IV,Fathermo and MC Ndama

Starting from 3pm, revelers streamed in by the thousands to catch a glimpse of Smirnoff’s fist party of the year.

Brigid Wambua, brand manager for KBL Smirnoff, stated during the event that “over the last year, we have created memorable experiences across the country that has seen a huge turnout and support by our consumers and what better way than to start the year on a high note than hosting our sixth event in Machakos. Flavour with Edge is Smirnoff’s way of celebrating people and their edginess, through edutainment events, while letting Smirnoff RTD consumers discover the alternative to ordinary by creating flavour drinking experiences that are effortless, yet mischievous and distinctive.

The Campaign is a follow-up to the Unleash your Edge Campaign that was introduced earlier this year through its string of Flavour with Edge Fiesta events. It is aimed at Generation Z, which is all about good vibes, music, and fashion.
