Yvonne Okwara goes on a serious Twitter rant after fan questions her statement on matatu ban

Citizen TV anchor Yvonne Okwara yesterday lost her cool and went on a serious Twitter rant after fans questioned her stand in the just suspended matatu ban.

The ban, which was announced by Governor Mike Sonko on Monday, has seen Kenyans trek for kilometers while trying to get to work. Okwara wanted to know what the governor is doing concerning the disabled who were also forced to walk the crazy distance.

She posted the question on Twitter and the answer she got sent her on a long Twitter rant.

“What arrangements have you made for persons with disability with this matatu CBD ban on this International Day of Persons with Disability?” she posed.

Concerns

“Yvonne, please don’t resist change, encourage CS for transport and Railways MD to increase trips on routes with high population such as jogoo road, thika road and Mombasa road,” George Ngaira replied.

She then went ahead to bash the fan who thought she was against the ban, which, has now been lifted by Sonko.

Yvonne replied: “Asking what arrangements have been made for persons with disability is NOT resisting,” and shortly thereafter went on a rant over the exchange.

Blogger Robert Alai asked: “What about the media houses you work in? Any plans to highlight and promote issues of the PWDs? Their buildings are disability friendly?”
