Years after departing from his position at NTV, Louis Otieno reveals that he still grapples with understanding how he lost his hearing.

Louis, once a prominent figure known for presenting news on various TV channels, was admired for his command of the English language and his tall, dark figure.

After leaving the newsroom due to a scandal, he faced health challenges that led to the loss of his hearing.

In an interview with Lynn Ngugi, he shared, “One day I was okay, the next day I could not hear anything. I was hospitalized at the time as my pancreas had burst. My situation was bad because I couldn’t even hold an IV tube; my hand was swollen.”

Louis recounted the day he allegedly experienced poisoning, noting that a lady he had never met before visited him.

“I just remember, this person walks in and asks why I had refused to sleep. But I had never seen her before. She put my telly off and closed the curtains; I do not know what she did because the machines were behind me. I slept from 10 till 7 am, but on normal days I would only spend two hours,” he added.

He further explained that when the nurse came, he couldn’t hear, confessing that it wasn’t easy.

“My balance was off; I couldn’t stand for more than 2 minutes. Before then, I had an active lifestyle. I swam, played basketball, hockey,” Otieno narrated. The talented news anchor is currently in the process of rebuilding his life.
