“The name ‘Mwalimu’ originated during my time hosting the Class124 show on Homeboyz Radio. I envisioned myself as the teacher, imparting knowledge to my listeners, particularly in Mombasa Swahili, since I struggled with Nairobi Swahili after moving from the Coast. It became my brand name for business and social media.”

Addressing perceptions of controversy, Mwalimu Rachel stated, “If speaking up and challenging norms is controversial, then I embrace it. I aim to provoke thought and spark conversations, especially within the music industry.”

Despite facing criticism, she remains resilient, drawing strength from her supportive family, particularly her mother’s unwavering love and prayers.
