Kenyan-born CNN anchor Zain Verjee Shows the World the Best of Kenyan Coast as she Tries Kite Surfing

This week on CNN International’s ‘Inside Africa’, Kenyan-born CNN anchor Zain Verjee shows viewers the rich history and culture of this incredible gem, Watamu.

Capturing Watamu’s current popularity as a global destination for water sports such as windsurfing, kite surfing and other attractions like its Swahili culture, history and Gede ruins among others.

Join Verjee as she explores Watamu’s diverse marine life, tests her skills at some of the water sports on offer and journeys through the ruins of a nearby ancient Swahili town. Along the way, she meets Ben Kelliher of Tribe Water Sports, and Ali Hassan, a Curator at Gede National Monument.

“Modern Watamu is an exciting place for water sports enthusiasts but it also offers some ancient Swahili culture with some wonderful mangroves and you will see spectacular sunsets,” narrates Verjee.

‘Inside Africa’ also explores historic influences on Watamu Waterpark, from ancient Swahili culture to the Omani empire to the Portuguese and Vasco Da Gama, which form part of the most important historical sites in Watamu.
