Kenyans React With Fury After Obama Invitation Card To Governor Isaac Ruto Surfaces Online (Photo)

Obama Obama Obama! This is the man that has caused riffles in Kenya and Africa in general. Oh, and the world. The most powerful man is landing in Kenya this Friday afternoon and much is expected.

Unlike when he visited in 2006 when he was Senator of Illinois state in the US, Obama is coming back more powerful, more feared and revered, more dreaded and respected in equal measure. He is the leader of the free world, head of the world’s superpower.

This explains why despite being a visitor in Kenya, it takes more than just words to dine with him. This, for those who doubt, has been proven by an invitation card doing rounds social media inviting Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to an Obama event at Kasarani on Sunday.

While a few Kenyans do not see anything wrong with the invitation, a section of critical citizens have angrily reacted to the letter, wondering why Kenyans are made to look like strangers when they are the once welcoming the world to the country.

While it needs a very critical eye to note the cause of the fury in the card, those having a different opinion argue that they are the hosts and therefore do not need to be invited. Instead, they should be allowed to invite.

Here is the card:

And the reaction a section of Kenyans gave:

Paul Mwithiga This should not be happening. If this is true it tells alot. I can’t understand how someone can come and invite you in your house. Kenya is a sovereign state and we should be the one inviting them not the other way round. Its the high time we should realise who we are and appreciate ourselves. It doesn’t matter whether we are third or forth world this should not happen. I see American planes flying allover. This isnt proper.

Mike Kamunya it’s like me coming to your house and inviting my friends n some of your “enemies” into your house

Benjamin K Waigwa Ngai fafa. Its intimidating.

Irene Kariuki I would rather stay home….nkt!

Jamleck Muriuki Nimu Hii ni ticket ya kupata ticket. Na Ukipata ticket uandikiwe “this is not guarantee that you will get a sit. To get a sit come with this card and your birth certificate.” Side shows just to elevate yourself from the common folks. Wacha ikae
