Kenya’s Biggest Actor, Edi Gathegi Does It Again!

You may have seen him in the hit American TV series, House (as Dr. Jeffrey Cole a.k.a. ‘Big Love’), White Van Man (as Darren, Jack’s dodgy assistant) and in box office busters such as Twilight andTwilight Saga: New Moon, Gone Baby Gone and X-Men: First Class. Clearly this guy is as good as it gets.

Born in Nairobi, Gathegi grew up in California and his acting career started like an “accident”. He was more interested in playing basketball and was good at it, until he injured his knee; this plunged him into a depression so he took up an acting class as an “easy course”. That is where he discovered his love for acting.

Ghafla!’s Nali incurred your wrath after she declared him the top sexiest actor in Kenya here. Ladies, do you agree with her?

Anyway, Edi has pulled another fast one on y’all and will now be featured in the TV series, Red Widow that ABC picked up as a series on May 11, 2012. Season one will begin in 2013 and will feature eight episodes. The series is based on a 2010 Dutch drama entitled Penoza.

The series stars Radha as Marta Walraven, a housewife from Northern California, whose organized criminal husband was killed and who has to continue his work to protect her family. She’ll do whatever it takes to avenge his death and keep her family alive. Even if it means filling her husband’s shoes and joining the family business. As Marta digs into this dark underworld, she’ll test her own strength, relying on her resourcefulness, determination and family ties like never before. Melissa Rosenberg was the executive producer and head writer on “Dexter” and screenwriter of the “Twilight” franchise confirmed she cast Edi Gathegi for a role in the new series.
