Man In Bungoma Sets Himself On Fire After His Wife Refused To Cook Him Fish

A man in Bungoma is nursing serious burns at the Bungoma County Refferal hospital after an attempt to commit suicide in a domestic row hit a snag.

Makokha is reported to have come home on the evening of January 20 bearing fish in his arms which he instructed his wife to prepare. Tired and sleepy, the wife refused to prepare the fish sparking an argument which escalated to a physical confrontation.

The wife is reported to have run away after Makokha became violent.  The neighbors were attracted to the household that came minutes after the wife dashed, on reaching there, they found Makokha writhing in pain with his whole body engulfed in flames.

At the hospital, the doctors say that his life is on the balance as most people with over 50% burns barely make it, his situation has been made worse by the burns to his head and abdomen.

If Makokha makes it out of the hospital, he will still have to face criminal charges as the Kenyan law treats suicide as a criminal offense.
