Meet Francis Atwoli’s wife who doesn’t want to be associated with her husband’s name

Not so much is known about the wife of Francis Atwoli – Secretary General of Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU).

Unlike her outspoken husband, Madam Roselinder Simiyu had maintained a low profile until recently when she revealed her interest to join active politics.

Roselinder has her eyes set for Webuye west parliamentary in the larger Bunguma County. She has worked in various organizations including Nzoia Sugar Company.

Unlike most wives of prominent persons who use their husband’s surnames, Roselinder doesn’t want o be associated with the name ‘Atwoli’.

Speaking during the first parliamentary aspirants’ debate held at Satelite View Hotel in Webuye, Madam Roselinder revealed that she doesn’t use the name ‘Atwoli’ because she doesn’t want people to think she’s just gaining political mileage with her husband name without necessarily being qualified for the position she’s vying for.

“In most cases, I have tried to avoid the name of my husband because many people will perceive that am leveraging my relation to Mr.Atwoli to vie. I am the only women currently in the race for this seat and nobody should expect special treatment,” Madam Roselinder was quoted by the Standard.
