More Woes for Journalist Accused of Murdering his NTV Senior Reporter Girlfriend

Moses Dola, a freelance journalist who allegedly murdered his girlfriend and former NTV reporter, Sarah Wambui Kabiru, has found himself in more trouble after Justice David Majanja ordered his arrest after he failed to appear in court for the mention of his case on Tuesday.

Dola failed to appear in court for the mention of his case in which he is accused of murdering former Senior NTV reporter, Sarah Wambui Kabiru at their house in Umoja estate in 2011, allegations that he has denied.

Justice Majanja ordered Dola, who is out on a Sh500,000 bail, to be brought to court on January 14.

Dola has been out on bail since September 2011 after the judge reduced the bail terms from 1 million shillings initially set by the court to secure his freedom pending trial, but his lawyer Cliff Ombeta said he could not raise the money. Ombeta said he had been in custody for “too long” and had a right to be freed before his trial is over.

Previously, prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki had urged the court to deny Dola bail on grounds that he is a flight risk, may abscond court and may interfere with witnesses.
