Nairobi County to have its Own Radio Station. Millions Set Aside to Set it Up

With devolution a lot has come into play; positive and negative. But today we are things positive.

Well, Nairobi County has allocated Sh50 million to set up a radio station that will come in handy in citizen participation in County affairs and cut the cost of advertising on commercial channels.

The county is in the process of acquiring an FM frequency from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) for the county radio.

The project requires about Sh100 million with the remaining half to be provided at a later date once the necessary structures are put in place.

“We have to develop the content and specifications first then we will go to tendering,” said Information, Communication and e-Government executive, Mohammed Abdullahi.
