The Disk Jockey who belongs to a class where so many will assume has no business with the popular staple food has proved such people wrong. She described the meal as her go-to food.

She said:

My go-to meal is amala, ewedu and obe didin snail, it just sorts me out. When I meet people that say they don’t eat amala, I ask why? Some people say they are scared of it, it’s the best thing in the world. I can’t even be with someone that can’t eat Amala; you can’t hang with me”.

DJ Cuppy also has few words for her potential suitors as regards where she would love to be proposed to. This no doubt is preferably a fairy tale destination which is owing to her love for a particular brand.

Here is what she has to say concerning her ideal proposal venue;

“I am kind of obsessed with Disney, it’s a thing for me, I love Disney movies. I actually want to be proposed to in Disneyland. So, if my future husband is watching this, heads up. A lot of people know that I collect Mickey Mouses so my obsession with Disney is very serious”.

Amala  (Yam Flour) is a staple food peculiar to the Yoruba people, Southwest Nigeria.

There’re times I wished I was not Otedola’s daughter –DJ Cuppy

Ever wondered what it was like to be a billionaire’s daughter?

DJ Cuppuy in an interview with Punch has revealed that she sometimes wish she wasn’t Otedola’s daughter. This is to the dismay of many as one would think that being a billionaire’s daughter should be all fulfilling.

In this interview, the disk jockey stated that unlike Davido who is also a child of a billionaire, she didn’t leverage on the wealth at the early stage of her career.

There were definitely times that I wished I was not the daughter of Femi Otedola but that was back in the days. Now, I am very comfortable in my own skin. In the beginning, when I first got into the Nigerian entertainment industry, I felt a lot of artistes and industry people who had not even heard me play were dismissive about me because I am Femi Otedola’s daughter. They felt that I was entering their space with an advantage over them and they thought it was unfair. But now, I feel that I have paid my dues over the last few years and I have built some great relationships with people in the industry. People have started to respect me especially because I have built a good reputation. Now, I am happy to say who my father is and I cannot even change who my dad is. I am embracing the fact that I am his daughter and I see it as a blessing. It feels like they used being my father’s child against me. I walk into a room and before I open my mouth, everyone has formed an opinion about me and they are not giving a young woman a chance to even prove herself. She said.

Comparing herself with Davido

She said:

The difference between Davido and I is that he used it as an advantage early in his career. He said ‘I am OBO, take it or leave it’. But I am not that kind of a person. It was really smart of him because before you can form an opinion about him, he has already told you who he is. He made it work for his brand. He loves the lush life and he is not apologetic for who he is.

DJ Cuppy Speaks on Sexual Harassment in Nigerian Entertainment

Here is DJ Cuppy’s take on sexual harassment.

Superstar DJ cum billionaire’s daughter, DJ Cuppy in an interview with Pulse.ng speaks on sexual harassment in the entertainment industry and its possible effects. In her words, the country is beginning to evolve when it comes to issues of sexual harassment.

Stating how horrible it could be for such a sensitive issue to lurk in the industry, the DJ said that sexual harassment and domestic violence has become rampant in the society.

This is such a sensitive thing over here, it’s more like a taboo, even outside the entertainment industry there is so much domestic abuse going out there and people don’t confront it. I  definitely can imagine if that goes on for entertainment, it must be really horrible to go through I can’t imagine how painful it is to go through that.

Imagine feeling trapped like they aren’t going to play my music anymore or I’m not going to get bookings or shows anymore just because I’m exposing that person, that must be horrible. Its tough but I feel like things are changing, we are really modernizing slowly as a society and I feel like anyone going through this might get more support than they think.

Her success in a male dominated industry

On this, the DJ said…

Not to put down all the men watching on Pulse, I feel like men just have too much ego and I feel like realizing this just helps you. I have deejayed for gigs and have had male DJs perform before me or after me, I let them do their thing, I’m not trying to be the biggest person there. It a bit like dating someone, you just kinda pretend to make them feel more important or more valued.

It’s really difficult being a woman because a lot of times we have to work twice hard to achieve half. I have seen this happen every day, all my managers are females, my interns are females, we have to kick down doors to make things happen so, I have learned to kind of accept and I think like Tiwa Savage said something along the line about how it is.”

She also explained“I met people as a strong confident, young female DJ, it really put people off as a young and black, it was really scaring people. So, I have learned to make people feel comfortable because most times its like people don’t like confident women, it’s almost like it scares them.”
