‘I Never wanted to be the Most Popular’- MI Abaga

One of Nigeria’s foremost rappers, MI Abaga, has revealed that fame has never been his driving point. This was in an interview where he revealed that he only wanted to be able to be able to feed himself and his family.

According to him, he is a very private person and as he is getting older, he is getting to realize that there are more important things.

He however noted that he has never been depressed, even though the pressure has been much.

MI speaks on going into the movie industry.

On whether he has plans to go into acting, the singer said he believes acting is not for everyone. He therefore stated that he would like to work with directors and script writers to shoot a movie. He has a story that he believes everyone would love, he said.

As long as I can feed myself, take care of my family and be happy, I’m a very private person. I never wanted to be the most popular. Getting older as an artiste, you need to start thinking about things that are more important. Though the pressure has been much on me, I’ve never been depressed. It’s okay to try and not get it right. It’s okay not to have the best car or watch. It okay if don’t fly private. Don’t put pressure on yourself. Happiness comes first; every other thing should be secondary

I want to approach it from a production standpoint. I’ve long been a fan of movies but I don’t want to enter as an actor. I want to find talented directors, writers and support them with my skill set. We have an exciting script and it’s going to be a movie that everyone would want to watch.

Olamide is One of the Dopest Rappers- MI Abaga

One of the best rappers that Nigeria’s ever had, MI Abaga, has consented to the fact that Olamide is a dope rapper. This was in an interview in a talk show called ‘Orin Conversations’.

Speaking on the state of hip-hop in Nigeria, the rapper noted that Olamide had contradicted himself at a point. To make this clear, he played a clip from 2015, where Olamide tried to defend his decision to quit being a hardcore rapper.

MI however, stated that if one looks at the YBNL boss’ hip hop songs, one will discover that he is one of the dopest. Everything he said has been contradicted by his catalog, MI added.

Excerpts from MI Abaga’s interview below;

In terms of the video, i can’t speak from their own vantage point of view, but i can imagine that when they were coming up, they were being attacked for what they were doing because if i remove all the pop music that Olamide has done and i just look at his hip-hop catalog, he’s one of the dopest rappers.

“Everything he said he contradicted it by his catalog, he’s the metaphor rapper, he’s such a dope rapper metaphorically, in terms of hardcore, what is hardcore? Hardcore is about the sound, carriage of yourself, stuff like that.. Who’s more hardcore than Olamide?

M.I Files Lawsuit Against American Rapper, Nas for Alleged Breach of Agreement

The Nigerian music side filed a lawsuit against the Queenbridge legend at the New York State Supreme Court claiming that he did not deliver what they wanted.

This is according to a report by Pulse.ng, Nas and Mass Appeal Records’ Ronnie Goodman were accused of duping Chocolate City after they had paid the rapper $50,000 for a verse which he failed to deliver according to the terms of contract.

The lawsuit stated that, in 2013, Nas and Goodman  agreed to contribute a verse to a track from M.I. where Nas was supposed to mention “M.I, Chocolate City, Nigeria, Queens, New York—NAS’s hometown, Mandela, Trayvon Martin, and the struggles of Africans and African Americans” in his verse.

The rapper delivered the verse but didn’t mention any of the subject matters Chocolate City had asked for.

The Nigerian label then requested that the Queens rapper to re-record the verse, but hasn’t complied even after three years, even though the Nigerian side had made the $50,000 payment. Hence, the reason why they’re now suing him, they mentioned.

In the lawsuit, Chocolate City complimented Nas, calling him “a highly respected lyricist in the music industry” stating that they wanted a verse from him “because of NAS’s exceptional talent as a lyric writer.”

Chocolate City is however disappointed as according to them, that talent and lyricism was not evident in the verse they got.
