Rapsody: Nairobi’s Premier Hip Hop Event

Nairobi Hip Hop Rapsody is the home of classic hip hop in Kenya.

This is the only venue in the country where the sub-culture’s fans can listen and experience the real culture. It is currently held at Choices on Baricho Road Nairobi.

It was founded by entertainment companies Spark Africa and Roots International who saw a need to create a space for the hip hop community to converge every Tuesday to enjoy a dose of what they like the most.

The idea was to have different hip hop DJs from various backgrounds and from all over the world showcase their DJing style and selection to the audience.

Nairobi Hip Hop Rapsody has hosted over 15 DJs so far including G Money from Jamaica, DJ Cortega from Switzerland, DJ Big Bear from the USA, DJ Kace from the Netherlands, DJ Zaq, DJ Gapp, DJ Supreme, Dr. Boom a.k.a. Blinky BIll, are among the Kenyan DJ’s who have spun.

This event has become the networking club for hip hop fans in Nairobi. It has been taking place every Tuesday since May 2013. It has now grown to host hip hop artists from around the world.

Some of the artists who have graced the stage at Nairobi Rapsody are Rabbit, Octopizzo, Khaligraph, and Jemedari, all from Kenya, HHP and TUMI from South Africa, Paleface from Finland, MC Matre from Los Angeles, and hopefully many more to come.

Nairobi Rhapsody would like to keep hosting more artists from Kenya and around the world as their mission is to bring hip hop culture and artists closer to the fans in Nairobi.

Nairobi Hip Hop Rapsody has become the only brand associated with showcasing of true hip hop talent in Kenya and this will continue to grow as time goes by. Check out photos from previous events below.
