Simz Opens Up on the Grief of Loosing Dumi

Simz took to social media on Friday morning to share her grief with followers‚ explaining that the last three months have been filled with intense emotions.

“It’s been three months since I lost my husband. Three months of sleepless nights‚ trauma‚ anxiety attacks‚ crying uncontrollably‚ anger‚ excruciating pain‚ loneliness‚ denial‚ bargaining and a lot of unanswered questions that leave me paralyzed with fear‚” she wrote.

She said that some days felt like she was not getting better‚ and that she has decided to take it one moment at a time.

“Some days feel like I haven’t moved or feel like it’s not getting better. I’ve just learnt to take it one breathe at a time. I don’t know what tomorrow holds‚ I still don’t know what God’s plan is and the thought of a future without ‘our future’ still makes me anxious‚ all I can do is trust God. He is all I know. I am holding onto him with broken hands but still holding on nonetheless‚” she added.

Simz has often used her social media pages to open up about her struggles after Dumi’s death on August 3‚ once sharing that all she wanted for her birthday was to hear Dumi say she was gold‚ because she was burning with grief.

The pair celebrated their traditional wedding several months ago.

Dumi‚ who played the role of Sifiso Ngema on e.tv’s Rhythm City‚ had been visiting a friend in Tembisa when a black Jeep approached their vehicle. They tried to flee but the Jeep gave chase and the occupants opened fire. He later died in hospital.

Court postpones Dumi Masilela’s murder trial

The men who were allegedly involved in the murder of Dumi Masilela,  appeared briefly at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court today.

The appearance follows another appearance they had in September where fingerprints linked one of the men to the attempted hijacking.

The court however postponed the matter to November 28 to give more time for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) decision. The DPP will decide on what charges will be kept and where further court proceedings will be heard.

The three men, Mfundo Nkosi, Bongani Masumbuka and Solly Mukhuba, face charges of murder, hijacking, attempted hijacking and the possession of an unlicensed firearm. They remain in custody. Nkosi had allegedly confessed to the crime after the confession was beaten out of him. He claimed that he had been severely beaten and had suffered a fractured rib as a result.

Masilela died in hospital on August 3, following an attempted hijacking in Tembisa, where he was shot.

Earlier this month a tribute to the slain actor, Masilela, Rhythm City recently took a decision to incorporate his death into the exit story line of his character, Sfiso Ngema. This was to honor Dumi’s character in what would be his last appearance on the show.

Dumi’s mother and brother also appeared in the show to pay tribute.

Dumi Masilela’s on-screen memorial service to air tonight

The late Dumi Masilela’s close friend paid an emotional tribute to him. This comes ahead of tonight’s on-screen memorial service on Rhythm City.

Clement met Dumi while filming for Skeem Saam and they soon became close friends.

Clement, said he was still struggling to come to terms with Dumi’s death and thought about it every day.

“One thing I have observed is that people are quick to move on. It is like some people have forgotten, but I have not. It is hard to believe that he is gone… even after his last TV appearance. I think that moment (Dumi’s last TV moment) made it more real but I still miss him and think of him every day.”

Dumi’s death was played in a scene on Rhythm City last week. This week’s episode will show a memorial service featuring his brother and mother.

Clement felt that the memorial was a fitting farewell to his friend.

“I was with the family and I felt it was done well. It went well and I think it really reflects both his life and highlights crime in South Africa. His mother spoke about Dumi belonging to the people and how she would help the people find closure.”

If he had one more moment with Dumi, Clement says it would most likely be spent listening to the star sing for him.

“I would say thank you. He came into my life and played an important part in it. I won’t forget him,” he added.

Dumi was shot in an attempted hijacking in Tembisa and died in hospital.

Final tribute to Dumi Masilela incorporated in ‘Rhythm City’ episode

Rhythm City will incorporate the murder of Dumi Masilela into the exit story line of his character Sifiso Ngema, as a final tribute to him. This is also to highlight the prevalence of violence in South Africa.

“After extensive consultation with the Masilela family, the producers of Rhythm City have decided to incorporate Dumi Masilela’s tragic death into the exit storyline of his character. The show’s producers decided to use Sifiso’s exit story as a way to pay tribute to Dumi’s work as an actor and to highlight the tragedy of unnecessary violence that plagues our cities‚” said producer Yula Quinn.

Masilela was shot in August in a suspected hijacking in Tembisa, and later died in hospital.

He will appear for the last time on the soapie on October 11th, which will be followed by an on-screen memorial service on October 18th, in his honor. His mother, Sabatha Magdeline, and brother, Thabani Masilela, will also feature in the episode.

“The memorial will feature the cast commenting and talking about the character.”

Quinn says the memorial episode is being filmed because they wanted to make a statement about him as he was part of the Rhythm City family. “He died so tragically. We wanted to pay tribute to him, to his work with us.”

Dumi Masilela’s alleged attacker being problematic

Mfundo Nkosi, one of the suspects in the late Dumi Masilela’s murder is allegedly refusing to co-operate with authorities. The news of his behavior was made known when the detective handling his case said that the suspect (Nkosi) had refused to be charged.

“Last time I went to Morddebee (correctional services), the suspect refused to be charged, saying that he needed to consult with his lawyer,” Detective Mthokozisi Ngwenya explained in the Benoni Magistrate Court. When asked by the magistrate how the suspect had refused to be charged, the prosecutor Lumka Phoso explained that he had refused to have his fingerprints taken.

Dumi Masilela, an actor and singer, died last month when he was trying to flee from a group of armed men in Tembisa. He was married to Simphiwe Ngema, an actress.

Nkosi confessed that he was in the car when Dumi was shot, but he was not the one who pulled the trigger. He claimed that another of his accomplices, had fired the shot. He also said that he and five other men were riding in a hijacked Jeep, and were riding around with the owner of the car, while trying to hijack the VW Dumi was driving. He turned himself in after he found that his co-accused, Bongani Masombuka, had been arrested for a different crime. They are alleged to have been part of a six-man gang who hijacked the owner of a black jeep in Daveyton, and drove off to Tembisa.

On Friday, the court heard that Nkosi and Masombuka had since been linked to the crime scene. Through his phone records, Masombuka was placed at the crime scene with Nkosi’s fingerprints  found in the car.

They are currently facing charges of robbery in connection with the black Jeep they allegedly used, but are yet to be charged for any crime relating to Masilela’s attempted hijacking and killing.
