Kwesta Makes Announces Rick Ross Visit

Kwesta has announced that Rick Ross will be in Johannesburg together with Rich Homie Quan. This is a special performance on tomorrow.
Kwesta has been making big moves, working with some of the best in the music industry. He has worked with Nigerian-American star Wale. Now, he is bringing the stars to the country.
Taking to Twitter to announce this, he revealed that together with Heineken they would bring the stars.
Many fans were excited about the news, while others saying how a short notice it is. All in all, we hope to enjoy ourselves to the fullest.

Kwesta And His Wife Celebrate Anniversary

Kwesta and Kid X are on the cover of latest issue of The Plug

Rappers Kwesta and Kid X are the cover stars of the October/November issue of popular magazine, The Plug.

The cover places the two rappers at the centre in what seems to be a purple theme.

The Plug announced their latest cover stars writing: “In the highly competitive hip hop market rappers come and go. Our Oct/Nov cover stars have played the long game and are now reaping the rewards.”

Kwesta too took to social media to share the news, saying: “Rest assured your summer is covered.”

Kwesta has started his album from scratch

His album might be taking longer than it should, but Kwesta will continue giving his fans music. He has started his album from scratch.

“I’m gonna drop a song soon‚ I’m just not sure when. I started working on my album backwards again. I was about 60% into it but I started over‚ from scratch.”

For him he’s creative juices were drawing him in a different direction.

“That had nothing to do with anyone that released anything‚ just so you know. It was just a creative space and everything like that. So expect music from me‚ an album from Kid X and TLT.”

In 2017, Kwesta promised that his next album would be bigger.

“So I am back in studio working on another album. I don’t know if you’ve seen but there has also been international collaborations that I have been doing. That doesn’t mean‚ however‚ that I won’t be doing collaborations with South Africans artists‚ I just wanna make this album a little bigger than just South Africa. So I’m pulling up all the stops‚” he explained.

Kwesta’s album goes seven times platinum

Rapper Kwesta tweeted about his album that has gone seven times platinum.

He made the announcement on social media, where he also celebrated reaching 700,000 followers.

In the post, Kwesta wrote: “Want to say thank you to each & every one of my SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND FOLLOWERS @twitter old and new! I take it as a SIGN that milestone coincides with RiSA declaring DaKAR II is now SEVEN TIMES PLATINUM, making it SA HIP HOP’s all-time best selling album.”

His fans took time to congratulate him on the achievement.

Kwesta lets us in on adorable movie night date with daughter (Video)

Local rapper Kwesta took to Instagram to share a adorable snap of him and his daughter.

He shared a video of their Sunday movie night date.

Kwesta asks his five year old daughter Khai what she is doing. She replies, “Eating poppy. I like calling popcorn poppy.”

He then asks Khai why she likes poppy so much. He shows his daughter some ‘hola’ hand gestures which she follows in such a sweet way.

With the video, it is clear just how much Kwesta prioritizes his family.

AKA and Kwetsa to perform at music festival in USA

Kwesta is returning to the prestigious SXSW music festival, and this time he is carrying AKA with him.

The two will perform at the Blast Live event in Austin, next weekend. They will perform alongside Talib Kweli.

A day after that event, AKA will also perform at the Sounds from Africa & the Caribbean show. This will be at the 800 Congress avenue.

Kwesta’s and AKA’s performances come only weeks after DJ Black Coffee performed at the Apollo Theatre in New York.

Black Coffee used his performance to encourage other South African artists to follow suit.

Kwetsa and Fiancee celebrate their Umbondo (Pics)

Kwetsa celebrated his  Umbondo ceremony which was held for the couple in Katlehong over the weekend. The ceremony is held for the bride to give gifts of groceries to her in-laws to say thank you for the lobolo and Umembeso. It is often the last step before a couple gets traditionally married.

Surrounded by dozens of friends and family members, the couple performed the ceremony before enjoying a dinner with guests. It was beautiful enough to bring tears to your eyes.
