Lerato Kganyago set to host Project Runway Season Two

As the host and part of the judging panel at the just concluded Project Runway Season One, Lerato Kganyago has been selected to host the second season of the show yet again.

Project Runway Season Two is slated for 2019. Lerato thus took to social media to announce this.

Thank you for your love and support. It’s been an amazing season! Proud to announce that I will be your host once again for Project Runway South Africa season 2✌? in 2019 ?,” she wrote.

And the winner of Project Runway SA Season 1 is…

The first season of Project Runway came to an end, and a winner announced. Kentse Masilo was announced the first ever winner of the show.

Since her first day in the competition, she proved herself by always being a step ahead of the rest.

As the winner of Project Runway SA, Kentse has earned herself a pop-up store at Paris Fashion Week. She has also been awarded mentorship and prizes worth R400,000 from Edgars, a Lexus CT 200h luxury compact hybrid worth R530,000 among others.

Speaking about her win, she was evidently excited.

“I am so happy to have won (the competition). Because the finale was pre-recorded I had to keep it in for a while but I am so glad that I can now celebrate and let everyone know that I am the winner.”

Project Runway coming to SA

South Africa’s version of design competition Project Runway, is coming to Mzansi Magic. The episodes will broadcast from July.

The focus of the series is to give aspiring fashion designers a chance to compete for a big break into the industry.

 

Project Runway has done well internationally. We are excited to have the local version on Mzansi Magic,” director of local entertainment channels at M-Net said.

“As a channel we have successfully introduced scripted content and reality formats into the market. Project Runway SA will add value and variety to our content proposition.”

Production

The series will be produced by Ndalo Pictures, and Rapid Blue.

“South Africa has impressive design talent that is absolutely ready for an international show like this,” said owner of Ndalo Media.

“It’s engaging, informative, enlightening and entertaining. It’s about talent, about mentorship, opportunity, and pushing creativity past all boundaries. We’re incredibly proud to be able to bring this show to our shores.”

In Project Runway SA, finalists will prepare for the 2019 Paris Fashion Week.

Entries open on 26th February.
