Riky Rick regrets speech he gave at Metro FM

Riky Rick was on Trending SA where he decided to speak about a past decision he made that made sense at the time. He revealed that he now holds a different opinion about the utterances he made during his acceptance speech at the 2017 Metro FM Awards.
In that speech, he had said:  “Shout out to all the kids that can’t get on radio, that can’t play their song on radio because they don’t have enough money. Shout out to all the kids that put out music videos that never get their music videos played on TV because they don’t have the money…”
Riky was then asked about his stunt then. He said: “I’ve got a habit of speaking, sometimes, at the wrong time. Like saying the right thing at the wrong time. So, obviously there was backlash, a lot of it, you know. But that’s something you’ve got to deal with… I’ve got friends at that specific station and I felt like I disrespected the relationship that I had with those friends and those people that supported me throughout my career.”
He looks back at that video and is not too proud about it. For him, he could have done it in a better way.

Riky Rick taking music break to focus on himself

Musician Riky Rick has announced that he will be taking a break from the music scene to focus on himself.

In the past, he has shared his past with being in the industry and having to deal with mental hardships. He has encouraged his fans on anxiety and depression issues through his motivating messages.

Riky took to social media to announce that his performance at Back to the City, would be his last.

“Friends and family‚ I apologize sincerely to everybody who will be effected but I am not in the right place mentally to continue doing shows or anything that involves leaving my children. I am taking time to find my faith before I lose the connection with the people I love the most‚” he wrote.

Being in the celeb status, it was hard for Riky to tell people that he was not doing well.

“Being a “celebrity” its difficult to tell people I ain’t feeling well. It’s difficult to take time away because people expect you to be superhuman. I am not superhuman. I’m just another human being who wants to find some sort of peace and happiness in life. I’m sorry.”

It remains unclear when Riky will be back in the spotlight. Fans too took time to offer their support to him.
