Shallow Kenyans Troll Sauti Sols’ Glorious Fashion Statement!
The weekend past, social media was lit with news that Sauti Sol had commited an atrocious fashion blunder. I hadn’t seen the outfit but when I did, I smiled that was a little daring for a Kenyan group but it was well within the fashion element.
Their statement is what is referred to in revered circles as draping, style that has been common with women, Indians and Arabs. I have seen the style on WWE superstar the miz and a couple of other A-list celebrities. Maybe Kenyans on social media are just shallow!
Many designers over the past year found an interesting fad in the form of mankets (male blankets), dhoti pants, draped kurta, asymmetrical tunics, flowy coats, raglan sleeved tops and more.
It is all about loosening up people!
Sauti Sol were on point, as a matter of fact, they killed it! The cardinal rule with draping : “If the upper body has draping, the lower should be more fitting, structured and vice versa. Also, it’s important to balance it and let the style be subtle.
Sauti Sol followed the rule, and of course we don’t expect them to keep dressing like regulars!
