Sickly boxer surfaces in Mathari hospital a week after being discharged from Kisumu hospital

It was only last week that it was reported that Conjestina Achieng had been discharged from a psychiatric ward at Kisumu County Hospital.
Daily Nation reported that Maendeleo Ya Wanawake paid part of the bill while the hospital waived Kes 22,000 in charges to have the former boxing champion discharged from Kisumu hospital.
Conjestina’s condition was reported to be stable at the time she was discharged from the psychiatric ward in Kisumu hospital.
Fast forward to December 5 2016, media reports indicated that Conjestina Achieng was among mental patients who escaped from Mathari Mental Hospital in Nairobi.
At least 100 mental patients fled from Mathari hospital early yesterday morning as doctors’ and nurses’ strike began.
Patients scaled the perimeter wall surrounding the mental institution before they ran away and got mixed with ordinary citizens.

A massive operation was conducted by the police to recover the escapees from Mathari hospital after the alarm was raised.
Conjestina Acheing was among the escapees that were apprehended by the police and returned to the mental facility.
It’s not clear when the former boxer was admitted at Mathari since she had only been discharged from Kisumu County hospital a week ago after her condition stabilized.
